Cody: This is the first big "program" given time to build over weeks of television for AEW, and it's done a spectacular job making it feel important through video packages and promos. Jericho is doing incredible work in once again recreating himself and making The Inner Circle faction feel like a big deal.
The recent concession area brawl between Inner Circle and Cody's "family" upped the stakes yet again. Kenny Omega vs. The extra time given to build things up has been a blessing, however, as the story of just how badly these two want to get their hands on each other has been able to truly gain traction. When Moxley and Omega were finally in the ring opposite each other during a recent tag match, the energy was electric without AEW giving away too much.
The Young Bucks vs. Jericho issued the challenge to the Bucks, again doing the verbal heavy lifting, and the Bucks accepted on Dynamite after defeating Best Friends. Emi Sakura: This became the rumored women's title match for the pay-per-view. PAC vs. Adam "Hangman" Page: This match was made official after the Oct. PAC had involved himself in the issues between Omega and Moxley before Moxley turned on him and the two battled to a TV time limit draw to close that edition of Dynamite.
Since losing to Jericho in the match to determine the first ever AEW champion, Page has been mostly a bit player on the roster. He's around for tag matches or occasional backup, but little beyond that. It's also worth noting that Page lost to PAC on the first edition of Dynamite -- a match that was originally scheduled for Double or Nothing before being canceled. Following the show during Page's post-event interview, he was interrupted by Pac, who said that he had returned to AEW to get revenge on Page.
A match between the two was then scheduled for the debut episode of Dynamite on October 2, which Pac won. Another match between Page and Pac was scheduled for Full Gear. During The Buy In pre-show, Dr.
Britt Baker, D. In the end, Baker forced Priestley to submit to the "Lockjaw" to win. Santana and Ortiz performed the "Street Sweeper" on Nick to win. The second match pitted "Hangman" Adam Page against Pac. Page performed a "Dead Eye" on Pac to win. In the end, Spears and Blanchard performed an assisted spike piledriver on Janela the outside.
Spears then executed a "Death Valley Driver" on Janela to win. Riho hit Sakura with a double stomp to the head to retain the championship.
Arn Anderson , Dean Malenko , and The Great Muta were introduced as the judges to determine the winner in the event of a time limit draw. Cody attempted a "Suicide Dive" but Jericho avoided it, resulting in Cody landing head-first on the entrance ramp and bleeding. Hager struck Cody and was ejected from the match. Jericho struck Cody with the AEW championship belt for a near-fall.
Cody performed "Cross Rhodes" on Jericho for a near-fall. After the match, MJF initially consoled Cody before attacking Cody with a low blow and leaving to loud boos from the audience.
