On his way there he stops by a diner, where he meets Piper Amber Heard , a waitress.
Entering her room, Piper walks in on her boyfriend, Frank Todd Farmer , having sex with another woman. Piper beats the woman and assaults Frank, getting knocked to the ground.
Milton, in a phone booth nearby, hears the commotion and comes to Piper's aid, kicking Frank in the face as he is about to continue assaulting Piper, and punching Frank repeatedly. Milton steals his car, taking Piper along with him driving to Stillwater. Meanwhile, a supernatural operative of Satan, The Accountant William Fichtner , arrives on Earth with the mission to bring Milton back to Hell and take the gun back.
After interrogating Frank, he discovers that Milton and Piper are heading to Louisiana, and murders Frank with a bat before tricking a pair of state troopers into helping him by impersonating an FBI agent. At a shady hotel, Milton is attacked by King and his men, who heard about his return, but he kills most of them. The Accountant appears with the police and chases after Milton and Piper, who are chasing after King's van.
Milton uses the Godkiller to shoot the Accountant off a bridge. They then follow King to a church, only to find it filled with King's followers. They are ambushed and captured. Piper is kidnapped and Milton is shot in the eye and left for dead, but he awakens and kills King's men before pursuing the RV once again. King then disables the car by repeatedly shooting its engine. Piper discovers that Milton is undead and had to abandon his daughter to protect her from his former companions, which is why she was so easily manipulated by King.
Webster reveals that Milton died 10 years prior in a shootout, and that Webster personally carried his coffin. She also discovers that the Godkiller was stolen by Milton from Satan and has the power to completely destroy one's soul, preventing it from going to either Heaven or Hell. Meanwhile, one of King's men who survived Milton's attack is found by the Accountant who questions their connection to Milton, and the man tells the Accountant that Milton is chasing them and why.

View All Critic Reviews Mar 28, Drive Angry is completely over the top, one of the few newer Nicholas Cage films I like. He's at his dead-pan best here as an escapee from hell. This is a ramapge of redemption, a sweet and salty southern receipe made delicious by its glorious excess.
If you liked Ghost Rider, which I didn't, this is a lot better. Its a hellacious beat-down pun intended. Amber Heard is too sexy to be believed and a complete bad-ass to boot. I also love the way Fichter's and Cage's characters interact. I'm not sure the original John Milton would approve of the hell-on-earth story, but its worth the price of admission.
How can anycritic claim this film is tedious? Its ridiculous and absurd yet entertaining as neo-grindhouse is intended. Clintus M Super Reviewer. Oct 02, I think it's safe to say that we've all got used to the idea of Nic Cage appearing in trash like this, and we've accepted it because sometimes it's the only redeeming feature of the ridiculously film's he appears in.
But I will say there were only two reasons I kept watching the film, because it is so badly plotted, so predictable and so stupid, and it was simply to ponder at the mystery as to why Nic Cage took the role in it, and to see if it would turn out as catastrophic as Death Proof.
Other than that, there is no reason to see this movie. It's nothing you haven't seen before even if your looking for trashy exploitation. Firstly it's narrative is incredibly laughable and has no charm whatsoever, and it's attitude towards women is appauling.
